[Delivery] Grab Another No.1! Huarun Dadong Completed "Super Project"
On the afternoon of September 15th, the LNG-FSRU (floating LNG storage and regasification Unit) project modified by Huarun Dadong Dockyard Co., LTD. was signed and delivered to the Norwegian owner -- Golar LNG Company. The project was contracted by the shareholder Hudong Zhonghua Group; and executed by Huarun Dadong as the first FSRU conversion project in China. It is also the first time that a Chinese company has entered the field of high-difficult large-scale LNG offshore conversion.
The successful delivery of the "LNG CROATIA" further proved the strong conversion capabilities of Hudong Zhonghua and Huarun Dadong.
September 15th, Chen Jun, the Managing Director of Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd., Huang Haihua, the Managing Director of Huarun Dadong Dockyard Co., Ltd., and Mr. Toni Poljanic, the representative of GOLAR LNG, took speeches successively at the delivery ceremony.
Liu Hongfeng, the Director of New Business Development Department of Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd., Liu Zhiyong, the Executive Director of Huarun Dadong Dockyard Co., Ltd., and Mr. Toni Poljanic, the Site Manager of GOLAR LNG, signed the delivery documents.
The total period of the LNG-FSRU conversion project is 20 months, and the conversion period in yard is 6 months. A 14-year-old 140,000 cubic meter steam turbine Mark III membrane LNG ship "Golar Viking" was converted into a new type: LNG-FSRU vessel. This is a high-tech project which is extremely difficult to convert, and it is a special transport Ship. Hence, this project was paid attentions by industry of LNG ship around world and be called "super project in the field of conversion".
This conversion is mainly to upgrade the original ship in five major systems: "fabrication and installation of a large seawater heating system in stem", "installation of a regas module on forecastle deck in stem", "fabrication and installation of New power module at stern", "fabrication and installation of ship to ship system " and "fabrication and installation of all the related cryogenic system”
Huarun Dadong completed the lifting and installation of two major systems: the 630-ton "installation of a regas module on forecastle deck" and the 350-ton "fabrication and installation of New power module at stern" as well as the installation and manufacturing of related equipment.
The main projects of these two systems include module lifting and installation, installation of LNG booster pumps, LNG feed pump modification, cargo tank booster pump modification, cargo tank insulation repairs, new cryogenic pipe fabrication and installation etc as a complete set of cargo system modification. Newly building a 1,400-ton power module consists of 3 generators and 1 GCU exhaust gas combustion unit, to complete the IAS upgrade of the new and old engine rooms, install two sets of stern 6.6kv high-voltage switchboards for commissioning and power supply, etc.
Due to the severe impact of the COVID-19, most of the owner’s representatives were unable to arrive at the site, related spare parts were delayed, and service engineers were unable to arrive.
In the face of many problems and challenges, Huarun Dadong adhered to overcome the problems, took meticulous deployment, optimized production plan and process control, strengthened technology, strictly controlled quality, and promoted safe production in an orderly manner to ensure overall progress.
After 6 months of hard work, the LNG-FSRU was finally completed with the high-quality, and also won great praise from the ship-owner.
After the conversion, the LNG-FSRU was renamed as "LNG CROATIA". Compared with the transportation and storage of the original ship configuration, the LNG-FSRU realizes the integration of LNG (liquid natural gas) receiving, storage, ship to ship, regasification and ship to shore as well as equipping the propulsion system with the function of LNG carrier. "LNG CROATIA" will be deployed on Krk Island in the northern Adriatic Sea of Croatia to provide a steady stream of clean energy for local power plants.
In recent years, under the guidance of the high-quality development strategy outline of CSSC and the strong support of shareholder Hudong Zhonghua (Shipbuilding) Group, Huarun Dadong has made technological innovation, transformation and upgrading, deeply expanded foreign markets.
HRDD continues to deepen and explore the "double-highstyle" products and have formed the ability to repair and modify the three high-end products: luxury cruise ships, FPSO and LNG ships.
So far, 6 LNG regular repairs (including 3 vessels with LNG tank opening) have been completed, and 2 LNG ships are currently under repair.
The remarkable conversion of the world‘s first 15000TEU large container ship with LNG dual fuel power is expected to be completed in January next year.
